Ah, To Be Stupider

Now, the problem with trying to make yourself stupider than you really are is that you very often succeed. – C.S. Lewis (The Magician’s Nephew)

I honestly think that many times people blind themselves to the truth, even it is staring them right in the face.  This may be because whatever they’re facing doesn’t fit into their perceptions of how things should be.  Or perhaps they recognize the truth of it, but don’t want to accept it because it would mean that they either have to change how they’re living or because it means that they’d have to admit that they were wrong in a decision that they made in the past.  The problem comes when they refuse to accept the truth because of these reasons.  Rather than admit they were wrong, they stubbornly refuse to let go of their mistakes, and end up messing up even further. I Need to Write More

Wow, I’m terrible at keeping a blog current and up to date.  So, here’s an update for everyone, although I don’t think many people read my blog.  I’ll just write a quick little quip for ya’ll so that you can get caught up if you haven’t been privy to my life lately. Read more…

Oh, the craziness of life….

So, lately things have been kind of crazy around here.  I think it’s mostly due to the fact that the semester is winding to a close, and everyone is rushing around trying to tie up all the loose ends.  As for me, I spent the night in some weird zone where I literally couldn’t focus on any one thing for more than a few minutes at a time.  I was hopping from thing to thing, not really achieving anything remotely productive.  I did, however, decide to go with my friends to Sports Authority, where they were planning on buying water bottles for hockey.  I wasn’t planning on buying anything, but of course I did.  I’ve been meaning to get new running shoes, and finally did buy a pair.  I probably would’ve bought some yesterday, when I picked up Natisha from her work, but they apparently don’t carry plain old running shoes. A Random Bit of Courage

Everyone has a bucket list.  Even if they don’t have one written down somewhere where they can check items off as they go, they still have one.  I fit into this category – there is a list of things that I’ve never really written down that I’d like to do at least once in this lifetime.  I’ve never actively sought to complete this list (except for stuff like finishing school, etc.), but every once and a while, an opportunity comes up and for some weird reason or another, I find myself mentally checking an item off my bucket list. Another New Semester

Well, this semester has definitely had the busiest start of any semester I’ve ever had.  I’ll even venture to say that I spent more time on my first project than I ever have before.  The infamous Waren case.  *gasp*  Yeah, I know – it even sounds scary.  In actuality, it’s basically Accounting 200 all crunched into 25 hours of work.  Fun stuff.  Well, not really, but I did learn a lot about why things are done the way they’re done in accounting.  It does make a lot more sense now. Mid-Summer Update

Well, I haven’t written for a while.  I’m not sure many people actually read this when I did write weekly, but hey, I’m just going to start up again whenever I feel the need to express myself.  Things have been a little interesting lately.  I’m not going to go into too much detail.  Let’s just suffice it to say that I learned a lot.  About a lot of things. Lately I have been feeling a little bit low and feeling like there’s so much more that I could do to help with the Lord’s work here in this life.  I’ve tried in the past to get involved with family history, but find it difficult to coordinate with those of my relatives who are already working on it, so I always drop that.  I have also been trying to find more wholesome activities for Sundays.  Well, I found my answer today while listening to a talk given at stake conference by one of the members of my bishopric.
